Dear Lifehacker, I have been friends with a person for almost 10 years now. They recently started being a jerk to me. They seem to have no apparent reason, and are fine with other people. I haven't done anything to upset them at least I don't think so and want to fix this problem. Do you have any tips for confronting or calling this person out?

It takes all kinds of people to make a world: healers and builders, scholars and teachers, artists and scientists. It also takes jerks, unfortunately and for whatever reason. Even more unfortunate is the ratio of jerks that are out there. Jerks might not outnumber good folks in the world, but it sure seems that way sometimes. Given the sheer number of jerks walking around the world, there's a strong enough chance that you might fall into a relationship with one of them. Then, you'd be sharing part of your life with a real jerk.
my best friend is dating a JERK?
Several years ago, I started dating my best friend. At the time, it made perfect sense. We were inseparable, we had so much in common, we were extremely close, and when we realized we had feelings for each other that surpassed being just friends, it seemed almost silly not to date each other.
I have a dear friend who's dating a horrible guy. He's a super critical kind of person who's always needling her with comments on her career, her race, her weight, etc. She's no pushover, but can't seem to leave him either, and they fight a lot. I believe their fights have even gotten physical.
